Happy Monday....Tuesday...wait Wednesday??

I don't know where the day's have been going lately other then the free time that I do have is taken up by a few other things lately...such as Farmville on facebook...I know I know what was I thinking? Hubs teases me endlessly for this but it's fun and my little character has pig tails so what's not to love?

Also scrapbooking, I have a new determination to finish pending albums yes the nemesis of an engagement album this means you. I've been getting all sorts of fun ideas in my head for layouts but somehow they are all for other pictures and not the ones I am working on so maybe I should take a break from those and try some others...

Last week was Diwali for us (our festival of lights) as well as our new year...We also celebrate what is called "bhai beej" when you have your brothers over for dinner, I am lucky as my brothers just requested tacos and not some crazy meal lol! Here are some pictures....

A week ago I met up with some new friends to do one of my favorite things, scrapbook! It was a lot of fun and it got me motivated again... I finished my bridal shower album and it came out so fun :) I'm working on finishing the one from our engagement party...I also sent pics from our honeymoon to be printed! Can you believe I was able to narrow 847 pics to like 260 and I can't wait to get them!! I know I know I'm super behind and don't even talk to me about my wedding picture selections LOL I'm getting there!! I wish I could share pics from the shower album but my mom took it to show to her coworkers...I promise to update when I get it back :)

Navratri is one of my favorite Indian festivals...I LOVE the music, the gorgeous outfits, and of cours DANCING! This year I was able to get together a group of 16 AMAZING ladies to take part in a traditional dance.

A week from today is Hubs is birthday so I am kicking off a birthday week with a gift or something fun each day here is todays placed strategically ;)

While I was out shopping for the hubby I picked up a little something for myself...

Most of mine was spent running around with my uncle and aunt who were visiting from Africa...believe it or not the last time I saw them was at their wedding! I was the same age then as their eldest daughter is now...CRAZY how time flies...I also noticed how fun it is to have little girls around...I love my nephews but you can't do this with boys:

So I guess the question is where have I been?? It seems like life is just moving by so fast and there's ALWAYS something going on!! First off the cieling in the basement fell through:

All on the same day as a huge get together at our house for Raksha Bhandan (brother's day where sisters tie a string on their brothers hand to protect them for the following year to come)

Mix that in with a few other very important things going on, a commitment to help bake a cupcake cake, and a guest for dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday you get one very stressed out girl! Here is how the cake turned out...

That was all the week before last and I honestly don't remember half of what happened last week but I will say Happy Birthday to my twin nephews who turned 6 on Sunday!

Keeping my fingers crossed that I am back to regularly scheduled blog posting and commenting...

P.S. No I'm still not done choosing wedding pics...does someone want to come help??

Anniversary Part 2

We spent the next day at Hershey Park....kind of fitting to ride roller coasters right?? I have to tell you I will willingly sit on the roller coaster but I will chew my nail the entire time till I get on the roller coaste....then I keep my eyes shut and scream at the top of my lungs...quite entertaining if you know me!

I didn't take too many pics because well we were riding roller coaster but I will leave you with this:

Anniversary Getaway Part 1

Our first anniversary was sweet in more ways then one! The hubs surprised me with a trip to Hershey, PA and an overnight stay at the gorgeous Hershey Hotel!

Isn't is absolutely breathtaking?

When you check in you get chocolate!

My hair was pretty for about 20 minutes

We had lunch at Harvest an amazing restaurant that uses all fresh and local foods...These chocolate covered strawberries were to die for!

The Hershey Gardens were SO pretty (there were two weddings on site that day!)

We then headed to the Hershey museum and took a chocolate making class :)

And ended the day with another yummy dinner on site at the Fountain Cafe!

Perfect Weekend

We had an amazingly relaxing weekend which included eating, hanging out with family, Wii tennis matches, endless games of Judgement and Mafia, the pioneer woman's yummy pasta salad, chocolate molten cakes, celebrating anniversaries/birthdays, going to the pool, and fighting over the baby which eventually led to this:

Yesterday we drove back my brothers new car from NC and got a little lost in Washington...We also stopped in to fill up gas at a gas station that apparently had none...

Hope you guys had a great long weekend I for one didn't want to come back :)

Swimming through 4,000 some wedding photos! Yeah I know it's almost been a year...but after trying over and over to get the husband to help I am just doing it...but why is it that everyone always asks me why it's not done?? Isn't it supposed to be a joint effort?? Also another thing I noticed for half of an Indian wedding the girl is not even part of the ceremony...it is just her parents "giving her" to the groom...

and for the half that she is there well half of that time is spent like this...

In conclusion I have gone crazy looking at SO many pictures and am still nowhere close to being done! Wish me luck!

These empanada's are so delicious!!! They always hit the spot I LOVE the spicy tofu one...in fact I've taken to calling the Holland tunnel the empanada tunnel...Lincoln is the Pizza Tunnel in case you were wondering thanks to the yummy piping hot 99 cent slices! By the time I walk back to the car with these the hubby has normally moved up like an inch or two but at least we have food now :)

Weekend Wrap up

This weekend invloved the basement work, an impromptu trip to NYC, getting stuck in traffic and barely making it back to drop off our handyman who is AMAZING, birthday celebrations gone haywire but still lots of fun, a bajillion trips to Home Depot, and two unsuccessful attempts to watch this move and finally finishing it on Sunday morning.

I was honestly really excited to see this movie and I thought the first half was pretty good, fine it made girls seem a little crazy but I thought it was cute...Towards the end I felt it was a little long and drawn out and considering the whole point of the move was to dispel the idea of happily ever after and be more realistic Beth still got her engagement ring, Gigi still got the guy, and Mary and Cooper were oh so in love! I thought the book was hilarious and a lot more realistic then the movies take on things. All in all a cute movie but not sure it got it's point across?

I'm taking the cue from Chessa! and posting one of my favorite pictures of all time. I have to preface this by saying I have ALWAYS LOVED taking picturs and have longed to take photography classes but have not had the opportunity to do so. Right now I just have a little Canon point and shoot but I dream of a big "pretty" camera....This picture was taken three years ago and something about the moment just literally caught my breath, I feel the same way EVERY time I see this picture. I adore the brightly colored sari's and I wonder what these women were thinking about on this hot summer day. I myself am a little lost in my own thoughts today so it only seemed appropriate to share this image.

I have been basically living in these tees from Express...Throw them on with skinny jeans and a fun pair of earrings or a trendy scarf and you are good to go. Throw them on with a pair of boot cut jeans and flats throw your hair in a pony tail perfect for running errands. Dress them up with a fun belt for work or dress them down with a pair of yoga pants to workout...they really are awesome!

But this morning I woke up in the mood for something bright and patterned so I browsed Forever 21 to find something fun...I hate how to find any of this in the actual store you have to walk around for hours! Which are your faves?

So Saturday's Graduation Bash was a huge success :) Lot's of food and fun games of Jenga, Wii, and Mafia! It was originally supposed to be outdoors but the rain killed that :( I haven't had a chance to upload my pics yet but here are a few from my aunt...

My mom carved this watermelon basket by hand and then we filled it with fresh berries. I used apricots to make the designs it was so yummy with some Breyers French Vanilla Ice Cream!

The hit of the party was this Bruschetta:

I got the recipe from Food Network by Guy Fieri ( I multiplied this by four and almost all of it was gone)

*1 tablespoon minced garlic
*2 Ounces Olive Oil
*2 cups diced Roma tomatoes
*1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
*2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
*1/2 teaspoon sea salt
*1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix together all the ingredients and refrigerate for like 15-20 minutes.

I just picked up pre sliced bread at the grocery store and we toasted it on the griddle with a drizzle of olive oil!

This last weekend was a bit of a roller coaster, my little brother graduated Thursday, my dad was in town, basement renovations, a huge graduation bash, and last but not least Father's Day. I'm still in recovery mode today and am thinking I need a little me time...not sure when that's going to happen but until then I'll focus on this lol!

Morning Routine

Hubby: Wake up at 6:00 AM stretch, wonder around the room. Maybe go check on something outside, come back and settle back in bed with the laptop.

Me: Wake up at 6:00 AM and then wonder why the hubs is awake so early and then try to go back to sleep. Finally fall back asleep at like 6:35 AM, the alarm goes off at 6:45 AM I snooze it for 10 minutes and snuggle back into the covers. At 6:55 AM I snooze it again and say I will get up in just two minutes. At 7:05 AM I kick the blankets off and try to wake up...after a minute I stumble out of the bed. Hopefully there is nothing on the floor on the way to the bathroom otherwise I will be sure to knock into it or hurt myself.

Hubby: Laughs because he is mean as I blindly walk to the bathroom.

maybe I can make it Sunday again??? LOL that's what was running through my head this morning! Why are weekends never long enough? We had a lot of running around, rain, and lawn mowing/gutter cleaning. Luckily we were able to sneak in a date night involving sushi and this movie which was HILARIOUS!

We were DYING of laughter and enjoyed a piece of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake that we snuck in to the theatre YUM!

Since yesterday was so yucky I knew the one thing that would fix it would be something yummy for dinner...I hheaded to the grocery store to pic up the ingrediants for spinach and artichoke dip YUMMY! I had my FEED bag and everything to have the groceries bagged in and of course the bagger wasn't paying attention and bagged them in plastic anyhow....Let me just say this recipe was so delicious...the highlight of my day yesterday was when one of my cutie pie nephews said "this dip is as yummy as Applebees!!!" while he was digging in :) The base recipe I used is this one but I added a few little twists.

2 cups parmesan cheese
1 (10 ounce) box frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
2/3 cup sour cream (I used lite to be a little health conscious)
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise (Lite again)
2 teaspoons garlic, minced (I increased this to 4 because well garlic is yummy although you still didn't taste it that much)

My additions:
I added salt to taste, ground black pepper, and then some crushed red pepper flakes just cause we like to have that little kick!

Mix everything all together and bake in the oven at 375 degrees, the recipe said to leave it in there for 20-30 minutes but I left it in for 35 and could have left it a little longer cause I like it all brown on top.

Ever have days you just want to quit, as in it call it a day, go home curl under the blanket, eat some cheetos,(which I've totally been wanting since Lindsey mentioned them as her weakness!) watch some mindless TV, and wake up tomorrow days? That is today....but I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I figured maybe a yummy iced coffee would cheer me up....Since I'm at work this involved a trip to the break room for hot water for the coffee powder and ice to cool it down. Except on the way back I spilled the hot water on my thumb OUCH! I then proceeded to add in the coffee to the hot water and transfer it all to the cup of ice. I got almost all the coffee into the bigger cup when the phone rang and when I reached for it the cord knocked over what was left of it...Now I officially quit today! Hope all of you are having a much better day!

I'm super excited about what's in my lunch box today....It's just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but it involves this:

I have a confession....The hubby and I are slightly addicted to the food network and the travel channel. We love seeing things featured on there and trying them out! Luckily we live close to NY and this is possible for us :) One of the places on our list has been Peanut Butter & Co. in Greenwich Village. I mean take a look at their menu! Until we get over there I have this jar of yummy peanut butter that we found at the grocery store yesterday :) I was a lot more excited then I should have been about it and when we got home I promptly opened the jar and had a tiny spoon. It was delish on it's own so I'm hoping the Strawberry Jelly combo will be good too! If any of you have ever been let me know how it was and what I should order...If not what's your favorite PB&J combo?

I came across the FEED project a little while ago and bookmarked it away as something I definitely wanted to contribute to. From the website itself here is the story of FEED:

FEED Projects was started in 2006 when acclaimed model and activist Lauren Bush designed a bag to benefit the United Nations World Food Program's (WFP) School Feeding operations. Lauren, a WFP Honorary Spokesperson who has visited eight WFP food aid operations around the world, was inspired by the plight of the people she met on her travels. She took a special interest in WFP's School Feeding program, which feeds and educates hungry children.

Inspired by the aesthetic of the bags of food distributed by WFP, she created the FEED 1 bag, a reversible burlap and cotton bag stamped with "FEED the children of the world" and the number "1" to signify that each bag feeds one child in school for one year.

At the UN, Lauren met then-WFP Communications Officer Ellen Gustafson and they hatched a plan to use FEED bags to FEED the world. In 2007, Lauren and Ellen founded FEED Projects, LLC and started selling FEED 1 bags in April of 2007. By the end of 2007, they raised donations for WFP to feed over 37,500 hungry children in school for one year. In 2008, FEED Projects various partnerships will lead to over $4 million for WFP school feeding.

I think it's a great project and I feel especially connected to anything with Africa as both my parents were born and brought up there! I have visited Kenya when I was 10 and have seen the ravaging effects of AIDS (also a Project(RED) supporter) and the sad state of these children. If you bring anything into an orphange it has to be food and if you don't give it to them right away then most likely it is confiscated by the people running the orphanages for themselves.

This bag specifically targets Kenya but it was quite a bit outside of my budget :(.

I did however purchase this one which provides 100 meals for school children in Rwanda and I will definitely be carrying this bag with pride!

On Fire!

My arm's that is thanks to a crazy workout yesterday....I hate any sort of arm excercies and any sort of squats but yesterday at the gym I just focused on my upper arms and today well if I don't wave back at you please don't hate me because it hurts! My smart self had decided to making the bread I posted about earlier this week after we got home from the gym and all that kneading didn't help. All in all it came out pretty good for my first time just the crust got a little crispier then it should have so next time I think I'll leave it in for the lesser time frame (40-50 mnutes). Fresh bread with butter and whole what pasta with a spicy arrabatia sauce made for a yummy dinner! Even better I have left overs today for lunch :) Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Monday!

Photo Friday: Flowers in my hair

You guys might remember this post from right before I went to India. I was debating on getting/making a few flowers for my hair to go with the sari's I was going to wear....I never got around to sharing with you what the final decisions were because that week was crazy but now I have some pictures to share! (I felt a little silly asking people to take pictures of the back of my head so I had to wait till other people sent me theirs and hope the caught my flowers!)

Day 1:
I wore this green and pink chania choli one of my absolute favorite outfits!

I tied my hair in a pony tail leaving some front pieces out. I used those fun pieces to create twisties that I pinned in place and then used the rest of the hair to wrap around my ponytail. I wore a green flower attached next to the ponytail.

The flower is from Target but I couldn't find a link to it...It's very similar to this one from Forever 21 but it didn't have a ponytail holder on it.

Day 2:
This gorgeous Blue and Silver sari for wedding number 1 where we danced in the streets :) SO Much fun! (Somehow my mom, grandmother, aunt, and I all ended up wearing blue)

I just pinned back my hair on one side and attached the flower, which was blue rose with a blue glitter on the edges of it. This was from Claire's and again no link :(

Day 4:
Wedding number two...I LOVE this sari and this picture totally doesn't do it justice.
My mom and I took a little creative liberty on this one and we picked out a flower from Micheals that worked, her floral department manager glued it to a hair pin for me and some shimmer gold mist on it, I was a little worried because this was a bigger flower but I think it looked fun! (I gave away my blue flower to this sweet little girl who was a permanent attachment to me from Day 1 I think she looks much cuter in it!)

I also had a peacock feather which was really pretty but I didn't get a picture of that one! Happy Friday to everyone :)

It's Summer

That means all good TV is officialy done and it's time for cheesy reality shows!! I saw the Bachelorette on Monday (I haven't watched this show in forever) and I have to say it didn't seem that riveting....The show after it though Here come the Newlyweds was pretty funny! Maybe because I am a newlywed so when they have to do the tasks I wonder how ell we would do. We definitely would have failed Monday's! The husbands were blindfolded in their boxers and their wives had to direct them to their clothes in a messy room. It was pretty funny to watch and I know we would have gotten nowhere if it would have been us! Case in point:

Yesterday hubs took a wrong turn to come pick me up from work so he called to ask if I knew the way from there. I am hopeless at directions and I had no clue where he was but he mentioned he passed a high school. I quickly googled the high school address plugged it into google maps and got directions. Genius right? Nope not so much since he told me that I was just reading the directions and that wasn't helpful??? Then he proceeded to tell me he would figure it out and after driving around he finally showed up 45 minutes late... :) So I guess next time I should look up the directions but NOT read them! I guess that would be a better contribution!

It had been awhile since I have had a grilled cheese and this one TOTALLY hit ths spot! I am so convinced that a good grilled cheese sandwich can make everything better! In fact I remember in college we used to map out what days they had a grilled cheese bar for lunch and we made sure we were there :) The one I made this weekend had sharp chedder, tomato, onion, and a few hot peppers it was AMAZING! What is your favorite grilled cheese combo? If you don't like grilled cheese then what is your ultimate comfort food?

*I am cranky today...big time.
*I got up this morning to do the Shred and my DVD remote wasn't working so I couldn't go down to pick the workout I wanted...
*I made the hubbys breakfast and lunch this morning :)
*I feel weird today because I am not wearing a scarf...my husband thinks I should open up a scarf store! I came home with this one the other day and I LOVE it!

*Speaking of scarves the one I have been coveting at Express is now on sale from $40 to $15 this weekend if I promise it's the last one can I have it??

* I'm hoping to fit in some scrapbook time this weekend I think it'll help me
*I have writers block today clearly. Anyone have any post ideas? What would you like to know about?

So when I originally started this blog it was supposed to be a good mix of rambling and creativity! Unfortunately I haven't been as good about keeping up with the creativity part. After seeing this post on Ali Edwards blog I have been itching to get those creative juices flowing again...Here are some of my favorite layouts from the album I seem to be stuck on! Jay and I have been getting back into gym mode lately...Since we normally go in the evenings I thought it would be a good idea to do the 30 Day Shred in the mornings before I shower and get ready for work. But as I have said a billion times I am NOT a morning person and when the alarm goes off I proceed to hit snooze three times and sleep the extra 30 minutes...Last night I pulled out the DVD and set up my free weights to keep me from wandering around looking for stuff and then using it as an excuse to go back to sleep. I hyped myself to get up and work out but once the alarm went off I most definitely snoozed it again. I need some motivation to get up in the mornings!!!! Anyone have any ideas?? It doesn't make sense to do it in the evening since we already spend at least 45 minutes to an hour at the gym...

Mrs. Hendren-Beare, born on September 10, 1984 in Charlotte, NC, passed away on April 22, 2009 in San Francisco, CA at 24 years old. Kristin graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte in 2002. She proudly enlisted in the US Navy in June 9, 2004 as an Aviation Electronic Technician and was promoted to Petty Officer 3rd Class. She served on the USS Kitty Hawk with the Strike Fighter Squadron 102.
Kristin was married on April 7, 2008 to Antonio Beare and they were blessed with a daughter, Elaina Lindsay Harris Beare, born on April 17, 2009. She is survived by her husband Antonio and daughter Elaina, her parents Charles and Teresa, and her brothers, Talion, Shane, and Chip.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Co. Friends and family will also be received at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church on Steele Creek Road, Thursday, May 7th at 10 a.m. until the service, where the service will be at 11 a.m. Internment will be in the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Obituary From the Charlotte Observer.

Nine years ago last Friday this sweet girl and I were screaming our lungs out at a Backstreet Boys Concert. We didn't really keep in touch after high school but still the news made my heart stop. The fact that she's survived by not even a month old baby girl and had just barely seen her one year anniversary sends a trail of goosebumps up my arm. I've heard about the deaths of two other class mates both of whom committed suicide as well as a teacher who just recently passed away due to an illness and every time it's hard to absorb. I don't know what to say. Life is to short. Kristin may you rest in peace and may your little girl always feel your warmth around her.

I know I have yet to do a birthday weekend recap....I was busy playing catch up yesterday at work and didn't get a chance! Anyhow my birthday present from Jay arrived yesterday Ta Da!!!

I love the fact that he put so much thought and research into picking out just the right one....I have a gorgeous Citizen that he bought me a few years back that I love but he wanted me to have something more fun. The only issue is that I have teeny tiny wrists and I think it looks a little bulky on them...I also know bigger watches are super trendy right now!

We looked at others but didn't really like anything else so what do you think? Is it all in my head that it looks too bulky for me or should I look for something more delicate?

I'm exhausted! We had an impromptu dinner get together last night and didn't get home till 12:30! Of course I had to see Grey's Anatomy last night and stayed up till 1:30 AM watching the recording (so happy to have my DVR back) Did anyone else catch it last night?

Was I the only one that cried over this little girls story? I never used to be a sap when it came to stuff on TV or in movies...don't know when that changed! Do you cry at things on TV?

Does anyone else love getting things in the mail as much as me? A few weeks ago my good friend out in Cali sent me one of his graduation pictures from the police force. I was so excited to get something besides a bill that I let it sit unopened for a few days because it made me smile!

Of course when I opened it I smiled even bigger! LOL is it sad that sometimes I just want to buy things onlins so that I know I'll have something to look forward to when I open the mailbox?? In college I made it a point to send letters, cards, and even mail care packages to friends just so they would have something to brighten their day when they opened their mailbox. Something about getting a letter or card seems so much more fun then an e-mail even though they are quicker! What do you guys think?

Do you ever feel like your brain stops working sometimes? This morning I'm feeling a little zombied out, maybe it's from the lack of coffee! Last night's dinner was so yummy and the best part it came out just like my mom's! So without further ado:

1. I am NOT a morning person, I don't fully function until about 9:30-10:00 AM. Seriously I bump into things, and have been known to absentmindedly put my hand directly on the hot part of the flat iron while trying to do my hair. Consequently I am normally at least 10 minutes late to work.

2. While we are on the topic of sleeping, since we got married I've done a good job of not hogging the blankets. However my preferred way of sleeping in in a cocoon of blankets, both my husband and brother find this very funny and they constantly make fun of me for it.

3. I love cheese, and will happily eat anything smothered in it. Well anything that's vegetarian of course!

4. I love to read, and I read pretty quickly although I haven't read much since I got married I always end up taking books with me on trips. On this last 10 day trip to India I finished Confessions of a Shopaholic, Twilight, and the Palace of Illusions. For those of you wondering I liked Twilight but I didn't think it was as exciting as it was hyped up to be. New Moon got a lot better and I am currently in the middle of Eclipse.

5. I have an addiction to wristlets/coin purses/small bags. In my purse I have a small makeup bag, a wristlet with my camera, my wallet, and another small bag with my ipod. Makes it easy to grab things when headed out to NY for the weekend.

6. I also have an addiction to pretty scarves, I probably have at least 20 if not more. Today I am wearing the breast cancer one from Pier 1 Imports. Sorry I couldn't find a picture online.

7. I like chocolate, and desserts a lot. I will only eat half my entree so that I can have space for dessert unfortunately for me my husband doesn't share that sweet tooth :(.

8. I have naturally curly hair but I don't really like it. I feel a lot more put together when my hair is straightened. I also will never wear my glasses if my hair is curly because I think I look like a crazy scientist.

9. I love taking pictures, looking at pictures, organizing pictures, anything to do with pictures of anyone. That's why I need to start scrapbooking again because it makes me happy :). I can't describe the satisfaction I get when I I capture the exact moment I wanted to. I've been doing pretty good with Project 365 too!

10. I love my family more then anything else in this world and don't know if I would be the person I am today without them!

I did a little scavenging yesterday and got my hands on these old saris I already have a few ideas up my sleeve for some crafty fun! Do you have any suggestions? Our weekend was fairly low-key but we did manage to catch Fast Furious I'm not normally that into action movies but I loved this one! I also finished the second book in the Twilight series which I liked a lot better then the first one. Oh and what felt like endless amounts of laundry...Anyhow I hope all of you had a good Easter weekend and Happy Monday!

Considering I have such a wristlet obsession I thought it might be fun to try and stitch one...It can't be that hard right? Except for it seems the handy Simplicity pattern for Wristlets is nowhere to be found!

So now I'm pouting! I've looked at a few other patterns but since it's my first project I'd like detailed step by step instructions which I know Simplicity is the best at! Anyone out there good at sewing??

What's in your Lunch Box?

I try to be a good little wifey and pack lunch for the husband...but lately it's getting a little difficult.

a) I'm a vegetarian and the husband isn't.
b) He never warms up his lunch, if he has to warm it up most of the time he just won't have it.
c) Now he is tired of bread because I've been feeding him a creative assortment of sandwiches.
d) He likes salad but not as his entire meal.

Knowing that any fun and easy recipes for lunch? Last night I boiled some spinach & cheese ravioli's and then mixed them with olive oil, fresh tomato, black olives, crushed red pepper, salt, pepper, and some parmesan cheese...Quick and easy if any of you are in the same dilemma as me!

It's raining it's pouring....

I've always loved rainy days...they are perfection for snuggling into bed with a good book or staying in your sweats and working on a project. I sleep better when it's raining at night ans something about the rain has always seemed romantic to me.

My rainy day look for being out and about not so romantic....See I'm not an umbrella girl. Despite talking myself into buying a pretty purple one with an "A" on it I still hardly use it.

Umbrellas always look so pretty in pictures but I never know what to do with the drenched umbrella when I get to where I need to be. Do I leave it sopping wet and dripping in the corner of my cubicle or stow it away under my desk? Plus I can be so clumsy sometimes I might just manage to take my eye out with one of those pokey things!

So normally I resort to the following:

Either a hooded sweatshirt under a normal jacket or my jacket with a hood...Kind of makes me look like I might rob a bank.

But lately rainy days mean a cute top, a sweet jacket, and a pretty scarf ala Jackie-O to keep my straightened cannot touch water or will get frizzy hair perfect.

Doesn't she look so elegant? Yeah I don't think I look like that but it's better then robbing a bank right???

Here's a modern twist...Gotta love Blair Waldorf!

Today is actually a very special day....

Two years ago today was a Sunday, a little chilly, and slightly drizzeling. I spent the morning getting ready for a date with my then boyfriend. I remember changing outfits a few times as I often do because it was one of those days where nothing looked right. I also had a funny feeling about that day like something big was going to happen. My boyfriend who is always late didn't fail to keep his reputation and actually showed up two hours late! We headed out and by that time I was a little annoyed at him because he was so late and because I was starving! In the car we're talking about where we want to eat and he asked me if we could make a quick pit stop...I agreed and he pulled into the local park. The park where we first actually met and spoke to one another. He had planned out a picnic with all my favorite foods and some gorgeous tulips. It was a little chilly and he had packed sweatshirts just in case. The air smelled like it was about to rain and we casually talked about the weekend while we ate. Right as it started to rain he pulled out a heart shape box, which held another heart shaped box, and ultimately can you guess???

The funny thing was nobody besides our immediate family believed us and one of my uncles actually hung up on my mom 3 times...The above photo was taken later in the evening at a small surprise ceremony with all my family! Happy April Fools Day!!!

Thanks for all your advice on the facebook topic. As of yesterday the girl who uploaded my pictures was no longer there but there was a new profile with my name, picture, and birthdate. I went ahead and reported it because I had no idea who it was and after sending a few messages to my friends/family telling them this was my new profile and the other one got screwed up that person is no longer there. Hopefully that is the very end of it. Please keep your fingers crossed!!

Since I started blogging over a year ago there has never been a time where I didn't enjoy it. That all stopped yesterday, apparently someone on facebook used images from my posts over at Elizabeth Anne Designs, along one from my personal photos, and an old modeling picture that I am not sure where he or she got it from and has uploaded them as her own. To ice the cake he/she tried to add my husband as her friend...he accepted so we could see if this was someone we knew and find out how she got those other pictures. I didn't want to send this person a message because then they would have access to my facebook profile and I was already weirded out that they had collected pictures from various places on the internet. As of this morning this person has removed my husband from her friends and has changed her privacy settings so that we can't view her profile so now I have no way of knowing if she/he has removed my pictures. So if this person is a reader of my blog I am asking nicely please remove my pictures...I don't know where you got them from or how you got them and it freaks me out that you did...

Has anyone had this happen to them? Do you have any suggestions other then reporting the person?

I really don't have much to write about...we had a busy weekend...A trip to NY Friday night and then back to Jersey Saturday evening for a friends going away party...he's getting married!!! YAY! Yesterday was a laid back day involving some yummy grilled cheeses and french fries...The weather outside is a little chilly but overall warming up so hopefully the winter coats can be put away soon. I'm hoping to hit the gym tonight...since coming back from India I am ready for bed by 9:30 PM and STRUGGLING to keep my eyes open around 10 PM or so...I'm hoping hitting the gym will give me that extra boost of energy in the evening. I also want to get back into doing crafty things since they allow me to de-stress from the day...So that's where I stand..nothing exciting but nothing to complain about either...It's Monday and hopefully you all are in a content mode also...If not here's a little sparkle for your day!

So a few months ago I bought this cute wristlet (I love wristlets!) in the "it color" marigold for spring...

Normally when I buy something new I want to use it right away and for some reason this has just been sitting in my drawer....So yesterday I thought why not add a little something fun to it?

This is where you guys come in....

Option A. A cute scarf (my first addiction...) in plum or deep purple. Here are some options I found on Etsy.

Option B. I adore peacock feathers and given the current feather craze how cute would some peacock feathers look as a mini keychain? I tried looking up a ready made peacock keychain on etsy but I didn't really like it....I thought maybe I could get a pair of earrings and turn those into a little key ring.....Again from etsy.

Option C. All of the above. I saw this sweet headband on The lil bees blog give away and sadly I didn't win...

Although I did contact Abigail and Bambako and she said she would make another for sale so yay me! But how sweet is the purple and feather combo? oooh and my mom has these peacock feathers in a gorgeous vase at her house by the stair way...
so with a quick trip to Micheals I would be able to create a one of a kind peacock feather keychain with a touch of purple...either beads or ribbon?

Option D. None of the above. I am crazy and should just use it as is stop daydreaming and get back to work!

Incase you are wondering I don't advise traveling to another country with such a large time difference for only a week! By the time I got semi adjusted to the time difference there all the wedding festivities had started and there was no time to sleep! Now I'm back here falling asleep by 9 and waking up at 4 wondering where I am lol! This doesn't really help the fact that I have a million things to catch up on at work! With that and my weekend plans of relaxing falling through I'm just a little cranky today! Oh and did I mention it's snowing??? Yep on the first day of spring it is SNOWING! So sorry for leaving without saying bye but trust me it was a mad dash to the airport...for those of you wondering I was in India for the last week and just got back yesterday at 7:00 PM...Needless to say I am definitely exhausted..two inidan weddings in five days, a 20 hour flight, the time difference, an unhappy tummy, and oh yeah did I mention I'm at work today? So today will be a busy day for sure but I should be back to blogging tomorrow...the 200+ posts in my google reader?? Well that's another story!

As most of my readers know I am obsessed with scarves, awhile back I saw this pretty one at Alloy but never got around to buying it...Anyone know of any good look a likes?? I adore it and can't get it out of my head...help please! It's so pretty for a hot summer day paired with a brightly colored top and a white skirt! Or to loop through the the belt loops of a pair of white pants....or tied in your hair while at the beach....Oh I can't wait till spring :)

Sorry I know I've neglected this blog of mine for the last few weeks or so! Work has been crazy not to mention I'm nowhere near packed and I leave for India on Friday!! I've decided sleep is over rated and Dunkin Donuts Latte's are all I need to live :)...I've meant to do these baby announcement samples for my aunt for awhile and of course I waited till last minute...Here are the 3 I worked on at 1:30 AM last night...I still have a few more ideas I want to try...Any suggestions?? I thought it would be fun to get my aunt one of the Vera Bradley Baby bags, you know considering she is actually having a baby! I had her take a look and she's narrowed it down to two and told me to surprise her.....

Help me choose please?? I am so bad with deciding things like this! I am strongly leaning to the Yellow Bird because the pattern just seems so fun and whimsical but I think the Caffe Latte is more neutral...truth be told I'm just not a huge fan of brown for some reason...What do you guys think?

So lovely blog readers in just over a week I will be headed to India for not one but two weddings! Incase you were wondering it is INCREDIBLY hot right now and well I don't think my hair will react so nicely to it! See this is how I normally wear my hair:

and this is what my hair actually wants to do (with the help of some leave in conditioner and gel...otherwise it's a mess!)

So I'm packing the hair straighter but don't know if it will be able to work it's magic in that humidity so I am looking for some simple hair styles...perfect for on the go to make life easier admist all the chaos!

New Bag!

So in search of the perfect traveling bag I stopped in at the Crabtree & Evelyn at our local mall. I wanted to check out their selection of Vera Bradley bags and see if I could find something large enough and on sale for a 22 hour flight! I browsed through everything they had but I'm fussy when it comes to bags and I didn't find anything I like until I saw this!

It was the perfect size, it passed the elbow test and it wasn't heavy like the U.S. Luggage bag I normally travel with and even better it was on sale! I opened it up to check out pockets and such inside and I there was a little surprise inside...Can you guess what it was??

A diaper changing pad!!! Yep the bag I had picked out was actually a baby bag!!! But in my defense it doesn't look like one does it?? So I put it back disappointed and left the store. I looked around for some more options this was the only one I liked. I'm really bad like that once I've seen something I like NOTHING else seems to compare or measure up :( So I'm now the owner of one Vera Bradley Baby Bag....does anyone need a changing pad???
